Hi, I'm Sophia!

I’m Sophia Blaney, MS, CCC-SLP, a speech-language pathologist with over 18 years of clinical experience in feeding and swallowing disorders. With more than a decade in hospital leadership, I have extensive experience evaluating and treating infants and children with feeding difficulties, including premature and medically complex infants in the NICU.

As a mother of three, I know firsthand that feeding is about more than nutrition—it’s an opportunity for connection, growth, and bonding. My approach combines specialized clinical expertise with compassionate, evidence-based care, helping families feel supported and confident through feeding challenges. Through individualized, in-home evaluations and therapy, I partner closely with caregivers to develop practical strategies that support each child’s unique feeding needs.

Consultation

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to talk through your concerns and goals, answer your immediate questions, and decide together if an in-home evaluation is the right next step. If it’s a good fit, we can schedule your evaluation right on the call.

Evaluation

75–90 minutes

A comprehensive in-home evaluation to understand what may be contributing to your child’s feeding challenges and identify next steps.

  • In-depth history of your child’s medical, developmental, and feeding background

  • Clinical feeding assessment of oral-motor and chewing skills, coordination, positioning, and signs of swallowing difficulty

  • Trying adjustments to positioning, pacing, bottles, cups, utensils, or food textures so we can see together what may help

  • Hands-on coaching so you can practice strategies at home

  • A clear care plan with individualized recommendations and next steps

The goal: safer, more comfortable feeding and less feeding-related stress for your whole family.

Therapy

When ongoing support is recommended, I work closely with you and your child, typically weekly or every other week.

  • Personalized sessions matched to your child’s development, feeding skills, and your family’s goals

  • Skill-building from bottle and breastfeeding to solids, textures, and family meals

  • Coaching for you with strategies to use between sessions

  • With your permission, coordination with your pediatrician and other providers

  • Progress reviews so the plan grows with your child

Because therapy happens at home, what we practice is designed to fit into your everyday routines.
